Background

Meralgia paresthetica (meralgia paresthetica) is a recognized complication following bariatric surgery, yet its risk factors remain poorly defined.

Purpose

This study aimed to investigate the incidence of meralgia paresthetica after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy) in patients with obesity and to identify its independent risk factors.

Methods

Were divided into meralgia paresthetica and non-meralgia paresthetica groups based on postoperative occurrence.

n = 2,635 patients

Results

higher body weight index slightly increases odds of thigh nerve pain after stomach surgery

More results

The incidence of postoperative meralgia paresthetica was 9.86‰ (26/2635).

Comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension were not significantly different between groups.
