Background

Sexually transmitted infections (sexually transmitted infections) after sexual abuse are critical problems; however, the prevalence and types of infections in this population have not yet been revealed in Japan.

Purpose

The aim of this study is to clarify the prevalence and the types of sexually transmitted infections in pediatric patients with suspected sexual abuse (sexual abuse).

Methods

This retrospective observational study was conducted in a pediatric tertiary hospital in Tokyo, Japan, where a screening protocol has been implemented to evaluate sexually transmitted infections in pediatric patients with suspected sexual abuse.

All patients had diagnosed Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection.
