Background

Menopause education is often neglected in resident curriculum.

Purpose

We aimed to fill this gap using standardized patient encounters.

Methods

This 2- to 3-hour educational experience was offered at the Inova Center for Advanced Medical Simulation.

Results

knowledge scores rose after simulation training, out of a 6-point test

MD 1.50 (95% CI 1.07 to 1.93)

CI excludes the null - significant

More results

Confidence scores significantly improved across all groups.

DISCUSSION: Following this didactic and simulation session, residents' knowledge and confidence regarding menopause management improved.

Simulation is a valuable tool for supplementing resident learning, particularly for topics not often encountered in resident clinics.

This educational experience highlights the utility of interdisciplinary teaching in resident education.
