Is microsurgical autologous breast reconstruction safe in patients with a history of venous thromboembolism? A retrospective cohort study of 14,309 patients.

In this unadjusted analysis, patients undergoing microsurgical autologous breast reconstruction with a prior history of venous thromboembolism were at significantly higher risks of postoperative deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, infection, wound dehiscence, pain, emergency department visits, and hospitalizations.
