Background

With primary immunodeficiency disorders (primary immunodeficiency disorders) have increased hematological cancer risk but the risk of head and neck cancer (head and neck cancer) is not well-established.

Purpose

Here, we sought to compare the risk of head and neck cancer among patients with primary immunodeficiency disorders to that of the general population.

Methods

TriNetX, a database containing millions of deidentified health records, and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) 2017 to 2021.

Results

over sixfold higher risk of oral and pharyngeal cancer than the general population

Among patients with head and neck cancer, those with primary immunodeficiency disorders had a significantly increased risk of mortality (HR 1.39, 95% CI 1.17-1.66) and malnutrition (OR 1.34, 95% CI 1.21-1.49).
