Purpose

To evaluate the incidence and clinical characteristics of uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema (uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema) syndrome after secondary intraocular lens (intraocular lens) implantation and to assess its distribution according to fixation approach.

Methods

This retrospective cohort study included patients undergoing secondary intraocular lens implantation without capsular support between May 2018 and February 2025 at a tertiary referral centre.

n = 1446 eyes
Results

scleral-sutured lenses raised risk of this eye complication far more than iris-claw lenses

Uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema developed in 14 of 77 eyes (18.2%).

No eye suffered permanent vision loss directly attributable to uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema syndrome.
