Japanese journal of ophthalmology · 2026
Purpose

To develop and validate time-updated, corrected gestational age (corrected gestational age)-specific prediction models for identifying treatment-requiring retinopathy of prematurity (retinopathy of prematurity) using routinely available systemic factors, and to assess longitudinal changes in predictor combinations and model performance with advancing corrected gestational age.

Methods

Retrospective cohort study.

Results

model correctly ranked risk most often when checked at 34 weeks

CGA 28 weeks
0.65AUC
CGA 30 weeks
0.716AUC
CGA 32 weeks
0.809AUC
CGA 34 weeks
0.842AUC
More results

Growth-related and inflammatory indices were repeatedly selected, while overall predictor composition evolved with advancing corrected gestational age.

Conclusion · 1 of 2

These findings suggest that corrected gestational age-specific prediction models may help characterize the evolving risk of treatment-requiring retinopathy of prematurity.

Conclusion · 2 of 2

However, prospective multicenter validation and further refinement are required before clinical application.
