The effect of Intense Pulsed Light therapy on eyelid bacterial load in contact lens discomfort.

Eighteen contact lens wearers completed the study (intense pulsed light: n = 10; 90% female, aged 35.3 ± 13.2 years; sham: n = 8; 50% female, aged 28.9 ± 6.3 years).

However, by day 90, bacterial count had increased relative to day 42 and was partially rebounded towards baseline numbers.

The sham group showed no significant changes in bacterial load at any follow-up time point.
