Leukoerythroblastosis was associated with 90-day mortality in adult ICU patients with sepsis: a retrospective cohort study.

Among intensive care unit patients with sepsis who survived for 7 days after intensive care unit admission, leukoerythroblastosis identified within 7 days after intensive care unit admission was independently associated with increased 90-day mortality.

Thus, leukoerythroblastosis may reflect severe systemic stress and sepsis-associated hematopoietic dysfunction.
