Background

The impact of preoperative veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support on outcomes of emergent pulmonary embolectomy for acute pulmonary embolism (pulmonary embolism) remains unclear.

Purpose

This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of preoperative veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in patients undergoing emergent surgical embolectomy for high-risk pulmonary embolism.

Methods

Were divided into two groups: without preoperative veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (Group A, n = 17) and with preoperative veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (Group B, n = 21).
