Robotics on the rise: an Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma multicenter trial of robotic versus laparoscopic cholecystectomy in acute care surgery.

Robotic cholecystectomy increased significantly in the acute care surgery population over the study period, with increased use for urgent/emergent biliary surgery.

There was no difference between robotic cholecystectomy and laparoscopic cholecystectomy in rate of conversion to open when adjusted for confounders.

These results demonstrate increased adoption of robotic cholecystectomy in acute care surgery without increased complication risk, despite a higher-risk population.
