Readmission rose across chronic kidney disease severity in a graded but non-monotonic pattern (Cochran-Armitage trend P<0.001), with the highest rates in stage 4, stage 5, and end-stage renal disease (end-stage renal disease).
Notably, readmission in stage 2 (30.6%) exceeded that in both stage 3a (23.6%) and stage 3b (25.8%), an early-stage non-monotonic peak.
Chronic kidney disease was also associated with higher respiratory complications (10.6% vs 5.6%), stroke (2.6% vs 1.7%), and myocardial infarction (3.5% vs 1.6%; all P≤0.002).
Chronic kidney disease severity is associated with a graded, stage-dependent increase in early readmission, postoperative complications, and one-year mortality following endovascular aneurysm repair, with the largest and most consistent risk concentrated in advanced (≥3b) disease rather than at a discrete threshold.
