Background

The optimal radiotherapy modality for World Health Organization (World Health Organization) Grade 1 meningioma remains uncertain.

Methods

A systematic literature search of PubMed (2000-2024) was conducted to identify studies reporting local control for World Health Organization Grade 1 meningioma treated with conventionally fractionated proton therapy, CF-Photon RT, Linac-based SRS/SRT, or Gamma Knife radiosurgery.

n = 4673 patients

Median GTVs were larger in the conventionally fractionated proton therapy and CF-Photon RT cohorts than in the Linac-based SRS/SRT and Gamma Knife radiosurgery cohorts.

Meta-regression showed no significant association between modality or gross tumor volume and local control.

In the conventionally fractionated proton therapy cohort, 5-year overall survival was 93.1%.
