Background

Down syndrome-associated arthritis (DA) is an underrecognized, inflammatory arthritis that occurs in individuals with Down syndrome.

Purpose

The objective of this study was to identify the clinical presentation and longitudinal outcomes of DA compared with those of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (juvenile idiopathic arthritis) using the Pediatric Rheumatology Care and Outcomes Improvement Network (Pediatric Rheumatology Care and Outcomes Improvement Network) registry.

Methods

A retrospective case-control study design matched patients with DA to those with juvenile idiopathic arthritis on age, gender, arthritis subtype, and medication exposure.
