Among the 163 patients (52% White, 44% Black; 80% previous taxane use) body mass index decline during treatment was associated with shorter progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) (HR = 1.75, P = .03; HR = 2.35, P = .031).

Higher subcutaneous adipose tissue index (subcutaneous adipose tissue index)/skeletal muscle index (skeletal muscle index) was independently associated with improved OS (HR = 0.5, P = .019), whereas higher visceral adipose tissue index (visceral adipose tissue index)/subcutaneous adipose tissue index was independently associated with worse OS (HR = 2.62, P = .005).
