Background

Abdominal midline defects, like diastasis recti (diastasis recti), primary and incisional ventral hernias, significantly impair function and quality of life.

Purpose

This study aimed to evaluate the safety, efficacy, and long-term outcomes of Totally Endoscopic Sublay Anterior Repair (Totally Endoscopic Sublay Anterior Repair), an anterior completely extraperitoneal technique, through a retrospective observational analysis.

Methods

Consecutive adult patients undergoing Totally Endoscopic Sublay Anterior Repair for diastasis recti and/or primary and/or incisional midline ventral hernias between January 2018 and March 2025 were included.

Indications included diastasis recti with umbilical hernia in 83 patients (69.2%), incisional hernias in 39 patients (32.5%), and other primary hernias in 15 patients (12.5%).

Median hospital stay was 3 days.

Totally Endoscopic Sublay Anterior Repair appears to be a safe and effective minimally invasive technique for selected patients, associated with low morbidity and significant improvement in quality of life.
