Efficacy and safety of 5-aminolevulinic acid-guided surgery versus white-light resection in newly diagnosed glioblastoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Two reviewers independently screened studies, extracted data, and assessed risk of bias using RoB 2.0 for randomized controlled trials and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for non-randomized controlled trials.

Although 12-month overall survival (OS) did not differ significantly (RR = 1.31; 95% CI: 0.81-2.13; p = 0.27), mean OS was significantly prolonged with 5-ALA (MD = 2.89 months; 95% CI: 0.73-5.04; p = 0.009).

Neurological morbidity was comparable between groups (RR = 1.31; 95% CI: 0.81-2.13; p = 0.27).
