Diagnostic accuracy of intraoperative macroscopic margin evaluation in breast-conserving surgery.

According to intraoperative macroscopic pathological margin evaluation, 25.1% and 27.7% of breast cancer tumors had positive margins in the UBCS and DBCS groups, respectively.

Final pathological examination showed positive margins for 5.9% in the UBCS group and 8.8% in the DBCS group.

Intraoperative macroscopic pathological margin evaluation-guided re-excision reduced secondary surgeries rates by 74% in the UBCS group, and by 50% in the DBCS group.
