Background

Urolithiasis is a common disease associated with severe infectious complications such as acute obstructive pyelonephritis (acute obstructive pyelonephritis).

Purpose

This study evaluated the concordance between BUCap, PUCap, and preoperative bladder urine cultures before delayed ureteroscopy (poBUC).

Methods

This retrospective single-center study included patients with stone-related acute obstructive pyelonephritis undergoing urgent drainage and delayed ureteroscopy between 2015 and 2025.

Pathogen discordance between acute obstructive pyelonephritis and poBUC was observed in 50.5% and 32.0% for BUCap and PUCap, respectively.
