Background

Hot flashes are common and often debilitating side effects of castration therapy; a cornerstone in the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer (prostate cancer) as well as in localized or locally advanced prostate cancer when combined with radiotherapy.

Purpose

This systematic review presents both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for treating hot flashes in men with prostate cancer undergoing castration therapy, primarily androgen deprivation therapy (androgen deprivation therapy).

Methods

A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed using ("hot flash*" OR "hot flush*" OR "vasomotor*") AND ("prostate") as keywords.
