Purpose

To evaluate visual and refractive outcomes in school-aged patients with a history of prematurity and retinopathy of prematurity (retinopathy of prematurity) with or without treatment.

Methods

Were categorized into five groups: full-term, preterm without retinopathy of prematurity, retinopathy of prematurity without treatment, intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (IVI)-treated retinopathy of prematurity, and laser indirect ophthalmoscopy (laser indirect ophthalmoscopy)-treated retinopathy of prematurity.

Significant intergroup differences in axial length, anterior chamber depth, white-to-white distance, and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) were observed across both age cohorts (all p < 0.05).

When directly compared with IVI-treated eyes in the older cohort, laser indirect ophthalmoscopy-treated eyes had significantly thinner corneas (p = 0.04) and steeper corneal curvature (p = 0.005).

IVI-treated eyes exhibited biometric and refractive profiles similar to those of untreated retinopathy of prematurity.
