Background

This study aimed to examine behavioral factors associated with myopia among school-aged children.

Purpose

This study aimed to examine behavioral factors associated with myopia among school-aged children.

Methods

School physical examination records and parent-administered questionnaire data were collected from nine schools in Haizhu District, Guangzhou.

Results

Children with eye-to-screen distance of 30 cm or more had lower odds of nearsightedness.

After adjustment for demographic, familial, anthropometric, and parental educational covariates, homework time 2-4 h per day was associated with higher odds of myopia [odds ratio (OR) = 1.24; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.07-1.44, P = .004].
