Background

To quantitatively assess the whole fundus tessellated density (fundus tessellated density) using artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence) and evaluate its association with myopia severity in Chinese children with myopia.

Purpose

To explore the relationship between fundus tessellated density and SE, Spearman correlation coefficients along with linear regression analysis were utilized.

Methods

Were classified into mild, moderate, and high myopia (high myopia) groups based on cycloplegic spherical equivalent (SE).

n = 263 eyes

Median fundus tessellated density values were 0.01 (0.00-0.02), 0.01 (0.00-0.03), and 0.04 (0.01-0.12) for the three groups respectively.

Significant difference was found when comparing high myopia group with the mild and moderate myopia groups (both P < 0.05).

The AUC of fundus tessellated density for identifing high myopia was 0.75 (95% CI: 0.68-0.81).

Artificial intelligence -quantified fundus tessellated density demonstrates a significant correlation with the severity of myopia.
