Background

Rebound tonometers are widely used for intraocular pressure (IOP) monitoring in animal experiments.

Purpose

To evaluate the measurement stability of the iFalcon TM V700 rebound tonometer under different measuring conditions, this study employed a stepwise pressure-increasing protocol to set eight target IOP levels (10-50 mmHg) in two enucleated rabbit eyes (n = 2).

We systematically investigated the effects of measuring distance (4-7 mm), measuring angle (approximately 30° superior, inferior, left, and right relative to the corneal normal), and corneal measuring location (central cornea and 3 mm peripheral cornea) on IOP readings.

Conclusion

Although the iFalcon TM V700 exhibited statistically significant dependent biases under the aforementioned operating conditions, the absolute magnitudes were limited and had little impact on experimental interpretation and conclusions, suggesting that the device demonstrates reasonable measurement stability under the tested conditions.
