Purpose

To characterize the relationship of angle-angle diameter (AA) with intraocular pressure (IOP), corneal diameter (corneal diameter), and axial length (axial length) in pediatric patients with glaucoma.

Methods

Nineteen participants (34 eyes) aged 0.12 to 12.5 years (median = 1.5 years) with pediatric glaucoma.

Angle-angle diameter showed a strong positive correlation with corneal diameter (r = 0.93, P < 0.001) across most age groups and glaucoma subtypes except Sturge-Weber syndrome.

Angle-angle diameter was also strongly correlated with axial length in primary congenital glaucoma and glaucoma following cataract surgery (r = 0.73, P < 0.001; r = 0.87, P = 0.02), with similar associations seen in participants aged <1 year (r = 0.75, P = 0.002).

Angle-angle diameter may be clinically useful for diagnosing and monitoring glaucoma in pediatric patients, as it tends to increase proportionally with axial length.
