JAMA ophthalmology · 2025
Purpose

To examine the association between the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program and Written Qualifying Examination nationally.

Methods

n = 1597 residents
Results
94%

n = 1597 residents
More results

First-time pass rate of the Written Qualifying Examination was 89% (1418 of 1597 residents).

Postgraduate year-4 Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program scores were used for the rest of the analysis for simplicity.

More results

Using postgraduate year-4 Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program scores to predict passing/failing, the Written Qualifying Examination had 90.7% accuracy.

“
