Association between adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and mental health concerns: a retrospective cohort study using a Japanese health insurance claims database.

We identified 9251 patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and 67,104 matched controls.

Age-stratified analyses showed that adolescent idiopathic scoliosis was associated with increased risks of anxiety and mood disorders in adolescents aged 13-18 years; the incidence of eating disorders was highest in the 10-12-year group (HR 1.77; 95% CI 1.05-2.97).
